The main focus of an informational paper is to tell your reader about your topic. You will choose a topic to write about and then decide on a specific factor of the topic to write about. You will make a statement about it and then work to prove it. In 5th grade, you will need to make sure that you start writing concise and organized papers. There are some tips that can help you do just that so that you write a great paper.
You can write most of your papers using five paragraphs. The first is an introduction that tells your reader some information about your topic and it will also give the reader an idea about what your paper is one. There will be 3 body paragraphs. Each one will talk about a different reason why you believe that statement that you made about your topic. The last one is the conclusion which will talk about the main points again.
It is so important to plan your paper out. You should make sure that you work hard to organize your thoughts so that when you start to write your paper you know what to write about and the order that you should write it in. you will write down all of your main points in your outline. If you use complete sentences, it will save you later when it comes time to write your rough draft.
To make your paper read smoothly, you will want to add transitions. These are little phrases that show your reader that you are moving on to another idea. They can be as simple as “the first reason why”, “the second reason why”, and so forth. They can also be as complex as “even though you want to use transitions between paragraphs, you will also need to make sure that you put your ideas in a good order.”
You need to make sure that your supporting facts either go from the least important to the most important or the other way around. They should not be jumbled up. It is up to you whether you want to present your strongest case first or last but it should be in one of these two places. That way it will either lead up to the strongest reason or start there.
